生後9ヶ月になったジュディ。
先週の土曜日に健康診断を受けてきました。
成長して親猫となる可能性がある場合には、親になるための準備としてわが家では必ず以下の検査を受けさせています。
親猫が健康であることが、子猫たちにとっては大事なこと。
遺伝病を含めきちっとした検査を受けることにより、生まれてくる子達に可能な限り元気な猫生を送ってもらうことは重要なことです。
- 心臓のエコー(肥大型心筋症）検査
- 股関節形成不全（HD）のレントゲン検査
- 心臓のHCM(肥大型心筋症)の遺伝子検査
- 多発性嚢胞腎（PKD）の遺伝子検査
３.と４.は海外の専門機関に検体を送って遺伝子検査をしてもらいます。
検査は、日進月歩で今やいろいろなものがあり、われわれがキャッテリーを始めた頃より更に遺伝子レベルでの検査が可能になった気がします。
今回からは、この上記に加えマイクロチップの装填も加えていくことにしました。
3月に起きた大地震では、わが家の地域に被害は出なかった物の、今後同様のことがあった場合に大勢の猫達を連れてどのように避難するか。
全員を車に乗せる事ができても、ガソリンが切れたところで猫達を全員放つことは出来ない事にあらためて気が付きました。
まったく知らない場所で放って、どうやって生き延びて行くのか。
また迎えに行った時に、再び出会う事ができるのか。
そんなことを考えると、車で一緒に逃げる事は得策とは思えません。
だからと言って、誰それは連れていくけど、誰それは置いて行くなんて決断は絶対にできないし、したくない。
幸い、家の前は広大な茶畑。
家から逃がすとしたら、目の前の茶畑だろうと。
（ただし、茶畑に何も問題がなければですが・・・）
放した結果、捕獲されたりした場合、どうやってその子がわが家の子かわかるようにしておくためには、やはりマイクロチップしかないだろうと。
全ての自治体がマイクロチップリーダーを備えているわけではありませんが、それでも装填しておけば万が一の時には多少なりとも安心できるかと。
ジュデイが装填したのは、デジタルエンジェル社製のマイクロチップ(ライフチップバイオサーモ)。
専用読み取り機(ライフチップリーダーバイオサーモ)に体温測定機能もついているので、リーダーをかざすだけで体温の値も測定できます。
今までの体温の計り方は、直腸温（肛門から体温計を入れ1分ほどかけて測定）するか耳体温計（耳で測定するので数値が若干低め）でした。
これで、少なくともジュデイは、ちょっとは楽になるかと思います。マイクロチップはわが家で装填するのは初めてでしたが、装填後に気を付けることとかはないようなので、これから順次他の全ての猫達に装填して行こうと思います。
今わが家に居る子達はもちろん、これから生まれてくる子全員に。
ちょっとした一大プロジェクトですが、リーダーも購入する予定です。
体調管理のための体温の確認が簡単に出来ることは、これもありがたいことですから。
装填時の体調に特段制約もないとのことなので、去勢/避妊、予防接種や出産前の検査時などでも大丈夫だそうです。

Judith now became 9 moths old.
As to know her possibility to be added to the breeding group, we took her to the Veterinarian last Saturday.
As a cattery, we do the following 4 tests before the one is add to the breeding line.
The course she took on Saturday was #1 and#2.
#3 and #4 are to be done at the laboratory overseas.
Currently many tests are being created and at this age we are taking these 4 types as a must to be done.
And from this time, we decided to add micro chipping as a common issue.
To all the existing members and all the off-springs to be born from now on.
Well we have thought about micro chipping in he past several times but this times earthquake occurred in Tohoku area finally became the trigger for us.
How to evacuate safely from our place when something happens?
If we even we let 16 of our furry guys into the car and leave our house to the safer place., what happens if we run out of gas before we reach there?
Or if the read condition is bad and we have to leave the car, how can we let them walk?
Cats are so different from dogs, and it means it is difficult to let them walk by themselves which we have to release them at a place they really don't know.
Can we find out or able to meet them later?
Sadly I think "may be Not !" is the answer.
Also we can not say, "OK, you come. You stay".
Every member is equally special to us so never can make selection.
Never ever!
So finally we came to the conclusion.
In case we need to release them, the green tea field just in front of our house maybe and should be the very best place.
To meet them again later, micro chipping has to be done for all.
What Judy was implanted is the Digital Angels'.
Chips are really improving these days.
Bio-Thermo microchips read the temperature of the animal in which they are implanted!
So she is now free from the old style.
